Overview

Exploring Imlil and the High Atlas Mountains with a Mule Ride:

Imlil is approximately 64 km to the south of Marrakesh and can be easily reached by a road that winds through the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. This is where the road ends, making it a natural spot to find guides and mules for trekking adventures. Imlil is a great place to kick off a trekking holiday or to climb Toubkal mountain, the highest mountain in North Africa standing at 4167m.

On Saturdays, visitors can check out the Asni Berber market, take a walk up to the Kasbah, and explore the nearby trails offering stunning views in Imlil along the Riraya valley. As you delve deeper into the Atlas mountains, you’ll get a real taste of the Berber lifestyle. Once you arrive in Imlil, you’ll meet up with your guide and mule handler for the hike or mule ride in the Atlas mountains, passing through the small village of Aremd in the High Atlas Mountains, which served as a filming location for the movie ‘Seven Years in Tibet’.
